Camp Story

The Origin of the Name
01 /

The Origin of the Name

It was a chance encounter. I accompanied a friend to "Onioshidashi Park." Standing high among the volcanic rocks, I gazed into the distance and saw a Ferris Wheel slowly turning deep within the forest.

At that moment, sunlight broke through the clouds, spilling over that sea of green. I suddenly realized—our land lay right at the foot of that Ferris wheel. It all felt like a hint from fate.

The name "Ferris Wheel Forest" came to my mind in that very moment. It is not merely a geographical reference, but an expression of a state of mind—above the hustle and bustle lies the sky and dreams; beneath the forest lies tranquility and a place to return to.

Encounter with the Land
02 /

Encounter with the Land

I first encountered this land in the winter of 2023. Snowflakes drifted down gently that day, blanketing the hillsides and woods in white. I was deeply captivated by the scene before me. The land happened to be for sale, so I contacted the agency without hesitation. After just a few months of collaboration and preparation, I finally became its owner in April 2023.

At first, I had no concrete plan—I simply loved this place. That spring, I returned to this familiar land. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, and the air was cool and clear. It was then I realized that Karuizawa’s nature and climate hold an indescribable charm, one that slows you down and lets you feel the rhythm of life anew.

Work-Life Balance

Due to the nature of my work, I have been in the IT industry for a long time. This career has granted me a unique kind of freedom—anywhere in the world can become my office as long as there is an internet connection. It is precisely because of this that I am able to live and work here, finding a state of balance between nature and technology.

As time went by, my family and I spent more and more days here. I began to wonder: Could I share this experience of "working freely in the forest while enjoying life" with more people?

The Birth of the Camp
04 /

The Birth of the Camp

In the spring of 2024, I was introduced to an architectural design firm in Tokyo through a friend. After surveying the terrain, the designer suggested to me—why not turn this place into a campsite where one can "both work and relax."

They say camping is no longer just about tents and campfires; it's a lifestyle, a way to converse with oneself and with nature. This idea resonated deeply within me.

Thus, in the spring of 2025, the campsite began construction. From April to October, we gradually turned our vision into reality. Many of the designs originated from my ideas: preserving the rustic charm of camping while ensuring workers could enjoy tranquility and convenience.

05 / Our Philosophy

Let camping and work coexist, allowing freedom and efficiency to go hand in hand.

We also hope that more business professionals and creators can rediscover a long-lost sense of ease and inspiration in this forest.

I hope "MORI under the Ferris Wheel" is not just a vacation spot, but a place where people can "breathe again"—here, you can escape the meeting rooms and subways, finish your work, enjoy a cup of coffee, and gaze at the starry sky under the Starlink Wi-Fi signal. Let your mind and body reconnect.

Art and Life

The ceramic pieces displayed on the shelf inside the white tent are handcrafted by my wife and her Chinese teacher. Feel free to use these vessels—they are not merely decorations, but carry the warmth of daily life. We share a deep love for Chinese pottery, Japanese ikebana, tea ceremony, and incense ceremony. Through this forest and campsite, we hope to meet friends who also cherish nature and art, and together share the tranquil beauty born from the hands and from fragrance. We look forward to meeting you in this forest.
